There's a saying in Fly Tying, "Ugly Flies catch fish, Pretty Flies catch fishermen".
It works with jigs, as well.
John, it's good to see you tying. I've been meaning to switch into production mode this past month, and I've squandered most of it away, watching Youtube, taking naps, and going ice fishing. Start back to work in a few days. Joy.
I 'm right with you Vinnie .Have you been tying any lately ? I would like to see what you have in store for yourself come 50-60 degree shallow water fish .
Someone on here told me that in nature things are not perfect, John. The main thing is that your jigs fool a lot of fish each year. I have never taken a course on fly tying, and quit worrying about perfection as long as they were "perfect" in the fishes eyes.
Thanks Jeffrey ,The 32 nd White and Chartreuse Bucktails and Marabous are special Perch and Crappie getters ,the feather jigs usually tipped with a morsel of crawler or Mealworm are the BG and PS favs. Also un-tipped they work on RBS i find in a local stream. The Bottom Squirrel tail catches them all including some Bass ,Pickerel and Catfish .
Tied up some black Rabbit fur jigs and a reused black/Brown Buck tail to add to this years ties . Dick ,i am the most basic uneducated tier on here but i know the fish in my home lake and nearby river like these . I gotta do some small Blue jay feather jigs and add some flashabou so I'm not done tying yet . In fact the wife just complained about the small tying desk being in the middle of the room again. She bought it for me a few Christmases back so doesn't she realize it's her fault?
Nice color variety.........these are fish magnets......
Nice
