This one swam free Carl, the ones I caught awhile back weren't so lucky. They ended up covered in panko and fried to golden brown.

About 12 inches , I caught some earlier that had eggs. All crappie caught out of this pond were within 1 inch of each other. None bigger none smaller.

Admittedly, I don't know much about Crappie---but that guy looks like he's in pre-spawn color. Is he big enough to spawn?

Not much cover. The ones I have caught are holding close to the bank in about two feet of water. The owner is elderly, I'm going to volunteer to sink some cedars if he'll let me.

Pretty Black Crappie Keith.....any cover in the pond? The Crappie should start to assemble on available structure if any is available......at a local pond I visit, the owner cut a couple big willows which dropped in six feet of water....took just a couple seasons and they have become a spring crappie magnet......can be a lot of fun...
