Making fish cakes tomorrow Jim  and the back fillet with the skin on it I'm gonna butter up and pan fry .

There are ways to fillet pike and pickerel to avoid the 'Y' bones...you might find something on YouTube about that. I have eaten pickerel...they are not bad, but I always skinned the fillets and fried em up.

Lost one myself Jeffrey last time out at this lake ,raised her and saw but she  got loose .This one was bigger and fought good and lively for such cold water .Don't know the temp but I'm guessing low 40's .

Nice John.......I hooked a nice one yesterday on a micro rig..........hit at 14 feet and I got her to the surface but couldn't land her............

Felt good Jim , the bushwhacking through pricker bushes overgrown on the path I didn't like but I needed to do this . I kept this fish to eat .

Thanks Ken ! Carl ,the weight and length is on the photo .That's an imitation cheapo spoon with a red wiggler that caught the Pick . I found that red/white stripped silver underside spoon years ago fishing for Trout .1ST time I put it to use .Was using cheap lures today as I was wading and lost two inexpensive ice spoons before this score .
