My little avatar pic shows me holding a typical South Edisto River warmouth.

As far as Im concerned, I dont catch enough of them

when i followed the google link it had a mix of what looked like your warmouth and some green sunfish. the one you have pictured is much darker than mine. i get a lot of green sunfish that have the nice blue lines and yellow orange on the fins with the black dots. this guy had no yellow orange on the fins only the black dots on the ears so to say. i have a fish i.d. app on my i phone and it points me toward the green sunfish. but has less of the blue lines and color mix. if its warm mouth hes very light in color compared to the one ben has. id be happy with either one. i wish i had an extra pair of hands with me to hold the fish up and get a couple good pics instead of the ones i got.

Good point about the blue cheek lines. Hard to tell from Marks pic ,but they do look like they are there.

Warmouth's do not have the light blue lines on the face like your fish does. Your fish is a Green Sunfish. This is what a Warmouth looks like:

It's always the ones we don't get pics of we wish we had ;) I know Texas has them but the ponds and creeks I fish are mainly controlled by sunfish and catfish . Saw a guy pull in a carp one day.

Hey Mark- They are not supposed to be in my area of NENJ but I thought I caught one yrs ago . Maybe not but the big mouth made me sit up and take notice .Maybe what I caught was a green Sunfish . I wish I had a pic of that fish ! It hit a Bill Norman 1/4 oz crankbait I recall. You have Warmouths  in Texas though I understand .

I think your right John after looking at some warm mouth pictures it does look like one . I thinks it's my first one . I normally get a lot of hybrids and gsf while lookin for gill . Not a lot of warm mouth in my area .
