Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

First time dedicating fishing time to the Carl Hendrix rascal......a beige one tipped with a live grass shrimp shallow in 55 degree tanic water......This bait is going to work just fine......

This creek was 55 degrees on 3/28/14.......interesting how some details are very close.........

Water dropped a couple degrees in this area from Friday but the forecast looks good this week ....we should be maintaining upper 50s to lower 60s in some places by next weekend and that makes me happy......the most important factor once you've determine you actually have fish in a particular body of water.......

Yes Allen......probably 98 percent of the time I'm under a float.......you have a slim chance to fish bottom successfully in these rivers......so much natural cover makes it nearly an impossible task........and get behind on a hooked fish and they'll wrap you up very quickly.........April is famous for 50/50 fishing here on the Albemarle.......big bags with half spawning crappie and the other half staging gills...........water is warming so the bigger jigs will get more play in the weeks ahead.........

Nice!  Were you fishing this under a float?

Looks like the season, combined with various power jigs, will definitely land you in the In-Fisherman magazine as the top tier gills hunter.

It's not hard to try a great looking bait......just been waiting on a little warmer water to try it on the gills......
