I only micro'd the ones pictured for 20 seconds I have micro'd them longer before but too long and dried them out too much

Try microwaving the hot dogs for 30 seconds or so.
Supposedly, it toughens them up.

I like baitholders, although they are a bit stout. I'd tie them to the spinner section on a short section of sacrificial lower strength mono. That way they will break off of they hang up. Drop the last football, and use a Uni-clip in its place. A tiny split ring or tippet ring would also work.
Add beads and spinner on top of this ringed end. Then tie on a baitholder.

I still have to give bait holders more of a chance but like the Light wire Aberdeens  for the shank length .In fact I was in the garage today collecting all my Aberdeens and organizing them in sizes in a dollar store Pill container .I put all my bait holders in the same box together to sort another day .As far as getting clever ?; sounds like too much effort for something that gets torn off so easily .Maybe when I find a balance between toughening up and making the fish still like the texture as much as what I've been doing . The attracter is the spinner and the stops and beads, the clincher is the taste and scent of the properly threaded hotdog piece .

Nice John!
I'd really like to see you get a little artistic with those wieners and make some Trout Magic-style grubs from them. A few clever cuts and you're there.
Have you tried baitholder hooks?
