Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This is only the second warmouth I've ever caught, other being a little 4 or 5 incher, It was a neat surprise and although it's not huge it's my new personal best.

Yeah it is Dick, it's great fishing with my dad, who taught me to fish. And now I get to teach him some things I've learned either on my own or for others. It's fun fishing together with a little competition in the mix, there's times I out fish him, and probably just as often he out fishes me.

Always make it special when dads and sons fish together.

It is a really nice looking lake, Dick, I think it's around 1000 acres. Like I said, I didn't fish it til July, past the prime bite, but I could see it being good earlier in the spring. The day my dad and I went we caught bluegill, redears, pumpkinseeds, a warmouth, and a few gillcrackers. It gives good opportunities for a mixed bag, with nice bass, perch, crappie, catfish, and a few muskies got in there as well. We didn't catch any monsters that day, but my dad caught a seed close to 8" and an 8" gillcracker.

I haven't lived in Ohio for 5 years but when I did Mogadore was one of my favorite spots. It was particularly good for Ice fishing.

Wow I always wanted to fish Mogadore but as of yet haven't made it. Don't know how the fishing is but figure still worth a try.

Comment by Adam Rink on October 29, 2013 at 12:40pm

Thanks Rick, of those I've only been to Mogadore and this year was the first try there. We did alright even though we didn't out til July. I did catch my first Warmouth there but it was small. Maybe I'll try again next year at a better time.

Adam;

   If you ever want to fish for Warmouth try Punderson State Park, La Due and Mogadore Lakes. They all have good populations of Warmouth.
