WOW, those are some great pics nof those SURVIVOR gills. the only wierd looking gills i catch are the one's with one eye, and i have caught a few of those one eyer's

we call heron and cranes around here.crapagallons' or crapaplenty, but dont use word crap

John, that is what we call them here!!! If you can catch them sitting in a tree over the water the old timer use shad side and shad gizzard below a cork and catch channel cats all day long!!!!! But of course you have a good idea what they are eating the rest of the time!!!!! :-)

I am guessing the beak of a Blue Heron made it's mark on this gill or perhaps a Cormorant.

Haha nice.......when deep wounds heal like this, it makes you wonder how young the fish was when the injury occurred.
