John, knowing and relaying the details is one of the critical factors that decide you go home empty handed that day, or smiling from ear to ear. I'm not the one that caught the details first. You are my good man. For you to summarize the feeding habits and predation opportunity of the fish, and incorporate that into your jig, then compare between the effectiveness between two jig methods, you are in a world of your own there. Truly a brilliant mind of a master.
That's a good lookin' fella.....
Ha Leo,no one stresses details like you Man ! That's great! The jig is up in the top right corner of the pic .It's cut just passed the Hook bend . I only caught one fish untipped ,a good Gill though .The bait tipping got the jig out farther and deeper to the majority of the fish on this shore fishing spot .The only dink I caught was a short cast that the wind took back to me .
I think Jigs tipped with bait resemble an organism feeding on another organism.Like a Hawk eyeing up Birds unaware at the bird feeder ,I believe fish, seize the opportunity when their prey is feeding. This is why I feel Bill Musky Mods spoon tipped tecnique is so effective .I think the spoon resembles a small fish feeding on the tipping agent and its timely to capture while it's feeding .
How long of the fur did you trail the jig?
Between 8-8,1/2" thick Boys and Girls today Leo on a 32nd oz Black Rabbit Fur Jig .I am very impressed with the Eagle Claw jigheads I tie the hair on .The hook is strong and sturdy still (ok bend up a bit ) after aggressive abuse of hard fighting panfish today .2# Test ,Shimano Senselite 5'6"rod with these jigs and an 1,1/2 hrs of solid action!
Man, that thing is big.
