All Bluegills today and more than half were Caught on a Crank Bait.

Another reflection on the best day I ever had catching bluegill on a Crankbait......70 gills in light rain during the heat of July on a chartreuse Bitsy Minnow....Fished solo and kept a nice mess for the fryer but I also released almost 100 gills on the Little River on this day....These fish were on a drop off and you could literally count down to every strike.......

I'm already staying up at night thinking about fishing trips like this one....and nobody went with me!

One of my most memorable trips this year was the final day of July. I would have given anything to have another fisherman with me this afternoon. I keep a fish counter on board and it read 127 when I was done. The best day I ever had in my life on an artificial bait for Gills, 70 fish on the Chartreuse Bitsy Minnow crank bait and the rest on crickets. Like most of the country, we were in a heat wave but I was blessed with some drizzle on this trip......Days like this stick with you!
