Living in the Lake Havasu area will place you around boats and boat people. The bad thing is, most of the boats there are pretty big, if I remember correctly. There are not many small waters around you, at least not the sort of waters that john boats are typically found in. You may have to go far afield to find one, or one may pop up in your backyard. Just be patient and keep after it.

Reminds me of when I paddled around quite a bit of an arm of Lake Shasta in the 1970s when I was maybe 13 (or maybe less) in a Sevylor inflatable kayak. Relieved the lake of quite a few bluegill that day, too.

There's a really neat and small little boat called the Sun Dolphin that I've got a hankerin' for myself. Check it out on Cabelas.com. It's quite affordable, about $2500 with a trailer, IIRC. It's like a mini bass boat, has a live well and everything. Of course, gear like a motor and sonar will drive the initial investment up quite a bit, but still, it's a great boat. Maybe next year, for me :)

If a boat is your dream, don't give up.  You will find a way to make it happen, if you really want it. 13 is a wonderful age to fish (OK, any age is a wonderful age to fish :)
