I've been guilty of crawling back to shore on my hands and knees after I forgot my cleats......once or twice anyway........ That ice is hard, and it HURTS!

Or...perhaps hand -augering a hole, on glare, smooth ice, with no snow cover, and 30 mph winds to help make exciting...and you forgot your ice cleats! Nice!

I like the combination of whipping wind, and black, glare ice with no snow cover....then you get to experience hang-gliding along with ice fishing!

Don't forget the ice anchors!

Mr. Abney, That is exactly what you do with these portable fish houses! When the wind is whipping or you don't want other anglers around you, seeing you setting hooks, then flip this baby over ya and you are good to go!

That's a really cool set-up Bullworm.....I assume you park this over the drilled hole to provide some protection from the elements.......
