Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Got out again today with my two kiddos on what has become our "secret big crappie spot". This lake gets fished like crazy in the winter as its close to Duluth but we had the Crappie hole all to our selves because everyone around here wants walleyes. All I have to say to that is thank you Walleye fisherman!

Great Crappie Nathanael.

I would say it has probably doubled the bite for me when using plastics on jigs. When I marked a fish and needed to get down to them fast I tended to loose fish because that darn jig wouldn't stop spinning. You'd see the fish come look at it then swim off (especially in 30'-40' of water).  Now most of them come right up and nab it right away.... course that's if I have the right size and color jig too but I have been able to fish the same fish with the two different reels and get the stark different results...

I got one ,they really help in catching fish which seem to hate spinning jigs.

Yup, It prevents twist in the line that open face reals are notorious for. I love it, my jig doesn't spin at all....

Nice work on the Crappies Nate! Is that a straight line reel you got there?

Really cold... -20 without the windchill when I got up this morning....I still may manage to get out though. Worse comes to worse we will camp out in the heated flip up Ice house.
