My problem isn't that I have a problem seeing something that small.  My problem is the background where I tie.  It's on the kitchen table, there's usually some clutter, not to mention the couch behind that, and the TV in the background.  I find myself constantly going from the fly to the TV and back.  That creates a lot of strain on my eyes.  I need to clear some space in my bedroom, find a small desk, and turn that into my tying area.

Allen if you do let me know how it works for you.

I just saw a large magnifying glass on a flexible stem and a pedestal base at BPS in the fly-tying area.  Might be worth checking out.....

I gotta start thinking small, I think!

David, I usually fish scud hooks (the curved ones) at size 12, but have some down to size 16.  Normally, the 'gills are hooks in the lip.  Of course, I'm usually using the Scud as a dropper below a Deer Hair Caddis.  The DHC acts as a strike indicator; as soon as it gets pulled under, set the hook.

Some dinky lil' things, aint they? Do the fish swallow these?

Sorry Rick I thought you were talking about the fly swap but would love to come up north to see you guys but it's still on hold for obvious reasons you know I have to put things in order. Thank goodness for this site it helps me a lot.

Always looking to improve and personally for me I love hands on. I really don't care to read something through I like for someone to show me I'll observe then I'll try it.

I found a small box with some of my first flies in my van.  Some were chewed on, some unfished.  I may have to do a side-by-side pic.....
