Do you love big bluegill?
Mayan Ciclid
This was the first of the Ciclid's I caught. Imagine my surprise, while teasing bluegills with squid on an ultralight combo this 8lb monster sucked up the squid. I had no idea what it was or that there was anything other than 'gills in the canal. I would have been less surprised if a gator had taken it. And like with a largemouth bass, I stuck my thumb in it's mouth to pick it up and found a nice row of little black teeth!

That's what the fish scale said, 8 lbs Mike. I'm going back in 3 weeks and will try my luck again. Maybe they've adopted well and crossbred with Tilapia. I was fishing with ultralight, had no net and had to reach into the water to grab the fish. If I can get some more, I'll take their picture with the scale and send it in. Florida has no official record as it's an invasive specie.
