Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This Gronaw Green Darner is no longer an Experimental in my Box....

Over a 100 fish in the last month has earned this jig pattern a name and it has earned it's fishing time.....Sparkle body and rubber legs have been deadly....here it is tipped with a tiny crayfish...deadly

I set my traps this week to catch some baby crawfish too........like to have a few but BASS get these often before panfish approach........

It does Bob....the crawfish hatch is before the Grass Shrimp in our region and you only have a short couple week window to catch these guys while they're an inch long....I traditionally catch more bass and Crappie on them because of the timing but they are yet another abundant food source to the fish in our tidal rivers of the Dismal Swamp.....I've cleaned small Crappie with literally dozens of these little crawfish in thier stomach...amazing growth rates in these fish.....

Serves to give it a weedless effect and I fish extremely heavy cover...

Jim, is that new age chenille for olive and winter purple color?

Jeffrey, the way you thread that shrimp, it's like a something is fighting something for its meal. Talking about enticing the fish to go for both at the same time, to make them as the easy meal.
