It is a bit off-color David. Our drought stricken state was finally blessed with some rain and the water is still a little high and silt laden but we are happy to have the moisture. A little cloudy water makes it easier to catch those spooky fish! The river runs through a part of the state where the geology is a mix of limestone, gypsum and granite... all three. The minerals give the water a deeper blue hue than is seen in other parts of the state. This is also one of our best winter Rainbow Trout fisheries.

Allen... you ever head that way, I would be happy to direct you to good spots or suggest flies or lures that have worked for me. Its a great place!

Great info, Keith. We are blessed in this country with
great splendor.

Thanks again for the comments Guys! We wet waded the whole day. it got pretty hot after lunch so we stood neck deep under a small waterfall for a little while to cool off. This was the Blue River in Johnston, Co, near Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Kinda on the line between south-central and south-east Oklahoma. About the farthest western natural edge of the Smallmouth's range in the state.

Right out of some story book. Talk about a picturesque spot.

What part of the world is this?

Indeed a nice spot to do some fishing. You either have knee height boots on, or sandals/shoes were pretty soggy.

Thanks Fellas.... we managed to pick the hottest day of the year (so far) to go. The water felt great though.
