Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This is what we call an OKIE punkin seed. Normall they're only a few inches long but this one was just over 6". My best catch! Still want an aquarium full of these beauties!

Tony, a GREEN SUNFISH is a BLACK PERCH here, never have figured that one out!!!!!!

Comment by Ben Seay on August 4, 2013 at 2:05pm

Maybe we could call it an Okie Brimy Longy Punky

Yep, different parts of the country will call the same fish different things....I'm always amazed at all the names, and in the end, what does it matter? As long as everyone knows what fish you're referring to, and you're not writing a scientific paper.......winking

I was an adult, well out on my own before I knew that Green Sunfish weren't actually called "old Fasioned Bluegills".....rolling on the floor
