A FISH TO BE PROUD OF FOR SURE , CONGRATS TO YA...
Awesome hen copper. The dynamics on some of the fish you guys catch out there are outstanding.
Thanks Sonny! Hope to see you out at the Lake.
We've crossed paths - seen you fishing the timber. I was trolling the rock piles in the new area.
Try the dam for big Green Sunfish hybrid.
If you ever need a tow - flag me down. Me and Anthony had to tow a ski boat the other day.
...very nice Bob!
Thanks Dick. And thanks Sonny, I've been waiting to launch my float tube at Bernasconi for years!
Carl, thanks for the tip. I've been using a black woolly bugger pattern I tied myself, with a few refinements: a blue glass bead head, about 15 wraps of .015 lead wire to make it sink faster, a few starnds of crystal flash in the marabou tail, some blue/green dubbing, and two hackle feathers (size 12 or 14 dry fly hackle), wound on together.
At Lake Perris, I've had great success for all the species with this pattern (in size 8 or 10): Bluegill, Redear, Crappie, Carp, Channel Catfish, and Largemouth.
Using this fly my personal bests at Lake Perris include: Bluegill (12 inches), Largemouth (7 lbs.), Carp (26 lbs.), and Channel Catfish (23 lbs.).
Top notch quality fish Bob. CONGRATS.
Excellent fish, congrats on the release Bob.
Bernasconi Beach is supposed to be open now.
The channel behind you is where I found two 12" CNBG on the 3rd and on the 4th - deeper water.
MANY CONGRATS TO YA BOB !! FLY FISHING FOR THOSE BIG UNS !! MY FAVORITE WAY TO FISH !! WHAT FLY ARE YOU USING ? DID YO UTIE IT YOURSELF ?? TRY;; A DROPPER;; ON A POPPING BUG !! IVE FOUND IT TO BE EXTREMLY DEADLY !!
Yea Jeff, over in the far east. The lake is getting bigger and bigger and tougher to cover in a float tube....but it's a good workout, especially getting back when there's a strong west wind.
