Joe Got a Birthday Present at 8:55……3/17/2024

Joe had a 1/32 ounce eagle claw jig head with a pink/chartreuse body under a float with a live minnow tip, fished very shallow in pollen covered water and his pole loaded up….he got her to a waiting net and we released this prespawn 7 pound class largemouth…….

Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour has a tournament on the Albemarle the first week of June 2024…..looking forward to the estuary showing out…..it probably won’t be on tv until sometime in 2025……

These are Joe’s two biggest largemouth bass and I was the only person there for both….this big girl got wrapped around a wall piling and I had to rush in and get her with my hands to get her in the boat…..very happy that he knew very little about fishing just 11 years ago when he met my daughter…..

Very shallow John….right where we were catching good crappie numbers…this is only Joe’s second bass over five all time…..it was slow today at first light but it turned on as we got some sun……it’s a good time of the year when everything is moving shallow……..we had a heavy sheen of tree pollen….

He was tickled…..he caught her at 9:00 this morning on an undercut bank…….fortunately Joe had a good hook set with the eagle claw jig and we got her netted, pictured and released in the same area……I’ve shared my boat with him for the last eleven years and typically I catch the big bass from the front but with his birthday this Wednesday, it was a great fishing moment…..I was glad to net his big fish of the day….
