Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

I caught 25 fish on this jig today including the big Flier and big Coppernose of the day....I like the addition of the red legs.....

Another favorite is the chrome ball jigs......Jim turned this one into a filament style......

Sometimes simplicity with the emphasis on specific details in this case the sparkling collar and red filament legs can give awesome results....I was fortunate in that Jim Gronaw allowed me to splash a couple of these in the black water region this Summer and the results were exhilirating.....It is tough in my region to get gills to hit these artificials untipped but the combination of flash, color and live bait enticement sent so many fish over the top...I have caught to date 8 species on this jig alone......It's my second favorite jig that Jim Gronaw ties!

1/32 oz Leo....so many apex predators hit these things I need the size to land some of them...I will be chomping at the bit to fish this one next spring.....I like the addition of the legs.....

Nice! I will copy this fly with the flair. That's awesome. Is that a 1/80oz or 1/64oz jig head?

I had to fish through the box a little today Jim.....take some credit.....I think you're on to something with the legs streaming behind......My two best fish of the day took this jig and for that I'm thankful I had it on!

Cool! As luck would have it, I tied up 25 of those today...some with the olive body and black legs.

Glad to hear they were a hit, but then again, you're fishing in one of the premier public bluegill fisheries in the nation...is there anything that WON'T take them in those NC rivers!?!?

I tipped it with live crickets but it's a winner Jim G., this was the first time I wet this jig combination....I like it!
