Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

My buddy Jake landed this terrific 5 pound bass on the micro gear and 2 lb test today...his largest fish ever! We were bluegilling and he got this fish on a 1/64th oz shad dart/garden worm combo. What a fish!

Nice one!  A classic, beautiful colored, 5 pounder.  It's surprising what you can land with 2 lb test.. if you've got a good drag on your reel, and relatively open water.  Way to go Jake!

I did that last year with a small - a 1/100th marabou jig/worm combo. I don't know how the fish ever managed to stay hooked. Pulled all 13" of him right out from under a dock.

It wasn't 5 lbs, of course. :-(

Jake loves to fish...just doesn't have much time with school and all. This was his first ever micro-light voyage.

I fished a long, long time before I ever caught a bass like that. Great catch for a great kid!

Excellent! Learning from a master using ultra light? A qualified personal master that cost you nothing..jealous!
