Vince
I bought a mess of teeny ones from eBay while back, small like you want.
The seller was named "Lubyanka" or something like that .

Jeff I’m glad you’re having good success with this... it’ll give me some incentive and confidence to use this technique. Vertical jigging this rig does look like the way to go. Ive been looking for a source that provides 1.5” and less in size. Vince mentions ½ “ sized baits ... so this started a more intense google search for a source. Anxsious to try this out as soon as im able to get back out on the ice.

I am not sure where he found them but several years ago my friend from IA. got some tiny tube bodies. I think he possibly found them at a fishing expo in the area. These were only about 1/2" long and very soft, so even though they were short they had  good action. He used them ice fishing with good results, tipping them with a wax worm. I tried them on 1/64th oz. jgs and the gills loved them! Wish I had some more of them, or knew where to buy them locally.

Forgot to mention that I like the brand Lit'l Hustler tubes by Keeper Lures.  They seem to have the best action without putting them into hot water to soften them up.  Plus their colors are great.

Darn it!  My secret is out!  I have successfully used a larger version of this rig for bass, called a "Fat Ika" made by Yamamoto Baits, so a while back I thought I would try a small 1" trout tube backwards for Bluegill.  Basically I just pushed a medium sized round split shot down into the opening of the tube bait and then threaded my # 8 circle hook through the opening so the bait would basically just drop or "swim" down on the drop, and open up with the tentacles spreading out and moving around when the lure hit the bottom and on the upward twitches of my rod tip.  The fish love it!  You can even put a little bit of cheese or small bait inside the tube, but it's not needed.  I have done good on all black, natural glitter and white colors. This method is great when fishing straight down in deeper water from a float tube.  Use a light line; 2 to 4 lb test.  I'll try to put up a photo.  Now don't tell anyone about this!

Keith sometimes that's all it takes to turn the bite on just little small changes.
