Yes, Reeds they are!  There are 3 distinctly different reeds in this lake tho and only one of them really hold most of the fish.....these in this picture are "those" reeds....:)   

  I have heard a little about Lake Osakis, would love to try it. The problem we have up here in Northern Mn  (and its a good problem) is that there are to many good lakes to fish and so we can't hit them all.

NATE JUST ANOTHER GREAT PIC!!!! LOOKS like pencil reeds in the background. When I was a kid we spent a couple vacations on Lake Osakis in your beautiful state but havne't been back since. That was in the mid 60's and may have been before you were born. In any case we caught lots of Crappies, Gills, and Northerns in those reeds just like the ones in your background here........
