I might add to what Tony said. I'm setting on a pond of about 400 perch which I purchased last year and the year before. All the perch I purchased were 6" mostly females. My fish from the year before are now 12 to 13 inches. My perch from this year are now 8 to 10 inches. I can tell you one reason the growth has excelled is they were all eating high protein Purina Max they were pellet trained. They had to be started to the feed and to this day they still come to the feed. Now I'm guessing and its only a guess and where talking small ponds is the next generation are not started on feed and have to fend for themselves. My perch expended o energy to eat. The next generation not being pellet fed have to hunt for there food and eat it if the food supply is there to accommodate all the new fish. Just my opinion of coarse.

i believe your right tony, and you would know .big perch seem to come out of big BOW.my club used to stock them.once all the big ones were caught we were left generations of stunted fish.still see tiny perch swimming with the other new fry so they are still reproducing even tho they are 6 ' or smaller.and with their ability to feed heavily in cold and warm water they may harm a small pond or lake

Yellow perch have a tendency to stunt oftentimes.....they can reproduce like wow. Be careful where you put them.

Way to take advantage of that small window of opportunity Jim!

andy if they have food i am sure they will do fine.one of the few fish that has survived all the changes the great lakes have gone thru.when i was a kid you couldn't catch any above 6 " because they used to commercially fish them with miles of gill nets and only the small ones got thru the nets
