Bought a digital postal scale today.....caught a 10 1/4" gill......it weighed a few ounces shy of a pound.....

The postal scale is quite accurate, even on float tubes. I have a green model, up to 25lbs. As long as there's a tension surface for the weight to be pressed upon the plate, you'll get a solid return. You can place the scale onto the bladder of the tube, and you'll get a very accurate return.

That's a good point Jeff. If we're talking float tubes and possible lake records, that would appear to be a difficult situation for obtaining an accurate weight.....perhaps a trip back to shore to verify a prized catch would be prudent?

That's great Tony, but I'm afraid it won't work accurately on a float tube.  Be great on a stable boat on a calm day.

Awesome Tony.....where did you get yours?

This is what I'm currently using: It's a postal scale, and displays pounds, ounces, and tenths of ounces. Max weight is 15lbs. I keep it in a gallon ziplock to prevent water damage.
