Great looking fish Sonny!
Great fish regardless!
With Led's permission, I shared a few of his photos with the folks over at PondBoss. Frankly, I was baffled at what I was seeing. I have zero experience with coppernose bluegills, so my observations tend to reflect my northern BG traits. In this photo, I see a BG that displays a small opercular (earflap) typical of a female, yet it also features scale tipping on the shoulders usually thought to be indicative of a male. In my admittedly uninformed opinion, this is a female, Florida strain coppernose. I wanted to hear what the experts had to say, so I submitted a few different photos of Led's fish, and while I'm still scratching my head and digging for answers, the general consensus was these fish were in fact not Redear hybrids, but coppernose bluegills.
It was a fascinating discussion, and I encourage anyone who has an interest in such things to check it out here:

Great fish, Sonny! My only question is...what is this fish a hybrid of? To me, it looks like a female copper. But I have only caught coppers in but a few waters and have little experience in ID on any coppernose crosses.
Beauty!
