YUP modern lines last a long time if properly cared for. Nothing wrong with hand me down's cause of all the memories associated with em........Those old cherry woods were great little rods and don't even know if they make em anymore or not......NICE VINTAGE RIG !

Jim / David / Jeffrey - thanks!  This is one of my favorite species to catch.  They are such a beautiful, vibrantly colored fish!!! 

It is an old Shakespeare Reel & Berkley cherrywood rod - hand-me-down from my Dad.  I try to use it a couple of times each year.  Though last year I finally stopped using the fly-line from 1965 (literally) and added something a little more "modern".  Sure casts better...
