John this is an ultra chenille which is a small chenille. I guess regular would work but be a larger worm indeed.

John;; a san juan is nothing more than material;; lile chenille;; about 1- to 11/2 inch long  tied in the middle  tied to the middle of a hook.  both ends are loose to wiggle.

Ken, the "bloodworm imitation " , I use ,is a simple red marabou feather tied on a 64th oz. jig head .I fish it with 2 or 3 # test and tip it with a mealworm ,spike, waxie or in this case a piece of red wiggler worm ;sometimes a gulp piece .I understand blood worms inhabit mud bottom and this hole had a soft bottom read out on the flasher . http://www.waterwereld.nu/rodemugeng.php
