Im thinking the Pasquotank is a brackish, black water stream. That fish has the same coloration our local Edisto fish get, and I'm fairly convinced it is both the water's deep color and acidic tannin levels that effects this.
You and your boat are making me chomp at the bit, these days. Even my wife notices, and is now agreeing that I ought to get a boat next year, God willing!
It's wild caught in my home river the Pasquotank....I caught it in a creek I call "The Stables" where it is common to catch six or seven species on the same trip....Unfortunately this gill was gut hooked despite using a long shanked # 4 but I was able to release several 10s this year that were lip hooked.....So as always, I'm eager for the honeysuckle bloom so I can make my first run to the "Stables", usually early April.
Thats a biggun, for sure.
Was it a wild fish, or a fed one?
