Good question, Chris. When I lived in Florida, gators were a feature of life. You saw them all the time. And in all that time, I dont recall ever losing a fish on the hook to a gator.

If you've ever seen the it TV show, "Swamp People," you'll know the hunters spend one month a year legally hunting gators. For bait they use chicken carcasses and rotten beef "parts." Well, one of the hunters (I wanna say Troy Landry) made the comment that gators don't eat these things, normally - they are a convenience for both the hunters and gators alike. The gators normal diet includes fish, but it is mostly dead and rotting fish.

And he used some dead fish as bait.

so how many times do you loose a fish to the gators.??

Nice one David! "The fishings better - when he gators are wetter!" I would put something in the line of, "Best fishing when gator chasing."

I lived 13 years in the Low Country and caught my biggest Gill down here so South Carolina is in my top three as you know David......I would shake from withdrawals every once in awhile but I could settle here again.....

Hey, Jeff... its South Carolina. Represent, baby!

(Thanks, by the way... you're doing a great job of it.)

We share that opinion David.....I've fished seven different locations down here in South Carolina since the 9th and all but one had active gators where I caught fish....and some big ones over ten feet.......
