Hopefully they recover from this and appreciate the panfish species and protect it like bass fishing…..I know it doesn’t generate the dollars of bass fishing but important to some anglers….

yeah the black crappie in these smaller TWRA lakes are overpopulated and stunted.  our state wide minimum is 10" and 20 fish.  the fish in those lakes never grow above 9.5" so they want them caught out.  they are managing them now mainly as a bass and bluegill and some catfish.  they are the perfect size for whole fried crappie.

Thanks Tracy…..definitely, haven’t seen no limit on crappie since I was a kid growing up in

Louisiana……here in North Carolina east of Interstate 95 you can keep 20 crappie over 8” with at least one trophy river with a 10” minimum…..I like to whole fry 9 to 10 inch crappie…..

very nice.  bone in crappie is my favorite way.  fixing to get on some TWRA lakes where they put a no limit on blacks.  they want them all gone so i will oblige lol.  they are really too small to filet but are the perfect size whole fried.
