I've been really busy here Dave trying to catch up on the bugs I have to do and haven't had a chance to get out and will this coming week though.  I posted some pics last week and that was the last time I was out and will have more next week.

David,

How are things going at the strip pits?  I went out on Wed and Thurs. bank fishing.  I caught little crappie on Wed and a bonus bass.  Thurs. I caught little bass in the rain.  It was nice to catch something though.  The gills and redears must of be deep.  We'll keep you informed of the fishing around here.

I will try and call you Monday morning after work.  I work three 12 hour shifts on the weekends, but I get four days off to fish.  Except it takes a day and a half to recover.  Will talk at you.

David,  I work All weekend.  I have no idea how to get to the friend page.  If you could leave your number again on the friend page i will see it in my e mail .  I accidently erased the email with your phone number, since I am technically challenged.  I would appreciate it greatly,  since I only have 3 fishing holes.  Will they let me fish in a float tube at this strip pit?  I will call you this week if you leave me you phone number.  Thanks alot

HEY DAVID, YEP these pits are open to the public, but you have to join em. I sent a request to become your friend and if you see it give me a call tonight if able to. Yep the water was a bit stained over there yesterday too, but it didn't make any difference to the fish. Yes I guess you could say the pits are privately owned but the fella has open memberships available. They are only about 20 minutes from Kewanee I guess. THey are an hour from me. In the next two weeks the fishing should go crazy over there and it's vvvvvvvvvvvvery early this year.

Another set of pits that used to be good just 6 miles west on route 6 was Giant Goose and I got out of it yyyyyyyyyyyyears ago. I heard a report the other day the fishing is back so I may check it out too.
HOPE I answered all your questions .

So David are those strip pits open to the public?? Or are they privately owned??  Their are some strip pits north of Kewannee I want to check out.  I could use more fishing holes, but with rising gas prices they can not be to far away.

Yes David I know where Mineral is.  Sorry you Lost the big Slab.  At least you caught some thing of worth.  I fished two ponds today. the water was still very stained.   You could see the jig in six inches of water. I was using a spinner  and a black curly tail.  I caught one small crappie.  At the golf course pond, I saw a walleye playing around  on the North bay, but he did not go after anything I had.  I just had no luck at all.

I WAS OVER YOUR WAY TODAY MR. DILLMAN!!!! I was fishing an old pit by Mineral, if you know were that is. Had the biggest crappie of my life on and was fumbling around trying to get the net and of course it flopped off on the surface. My son has a 16 1/2 " crappie mounted and it was at least that big if not bigger, huge for me!!!!
Water was surpirzingly warm at 56 DEGREES .GOT EM ALL ON BLUE AND WHITE, AND CHARTREUSE MICROS 1 1/2 ' DEEP DOWN TO 19' IN THE SAME SNAG.
