These are not balanced leeches but the same concept Allan.I started mking these at least 10 years ago.I make these for non fly fishing family and friends. These are for fishing below a float tipped with bait..Tung beads are awesome and the future as more places ban lead.I have lots of molds but dont like lead fumes and find it easier to buy lead jigs in bulk but i am using them less and less. You can make these weight for ward jigs wit beads cones dumbells etc.I have also made bass jigs on bigger hooks using worm weights.
I probably could stand to do some Balanced Leaches. Don't give me any more ideas, ROFL! I'm trying to get the hang of painting tungsten jigs.....
Just wanted to revisit these as a lot of you guys are rolling your own these days. These fish well hung below a small float.Because the weight is forward of the tie in they stay horisontal.Sorry my 26th letter key is broken.A little wave action and they do a nice little dance below the float. You can tie these any way you want. These have become the latest thing in fly fishing. They call theirs balanced leeches and sell kits to make them. The concept is the same tho.The tung bead makes these heavier for their sise than lead heads so they fall faster and have a better motion. It's winter give em a shot.
THOSE ARE SOME REALLY NEAT JIGS JIM !! CONGRATS TO YOUR WIFE ON MAKING THEM !!
I like the idea of the horizontal presentation.
