I tie a small tuft of bright yarn on their backs, just enough to see - but not enough to impeded them in the cast.
Jim, they look very close to the Gurgle-Pops that I tie. Those, also, tend to look like a beetle in the smaller sizes.

they are a good just twitch the legs kind of fly.
10 or 12 allen,just cleaning out some old fly boxes.forgot about these when i was selling flies the poppers took off and when i went fishing i had a lot of em.these are kind of a beetle spider hybrid .not my pattern just simplified it a bit
that's a neat looking little bug! bet it works good to!
called a predator-the original is a little more elaborate.they float low and resemble a lot of things.originally a trout fly i believe.you can tie alot of these at a sitting.i am gonna put a bright indicator on these as they are a little hard to see unless the water is flat
