Thanks Leo, actually all my jigs are painted in vinyl.
Beautiful jig Derek. Is that chartreuse glitter mix powder paint? Great evenness of paint distribution. Always love to add speckling glitters on jigs.
The Slider is basically a worm hook, with a weighted head molded on. A soft plastic worm is rigged weedless on it and it is retrieved slowly, using a countdown and crawl sort of technique. I've been trying to down size the whole thing, and get something suited for panfish, by tweaking long shank cricket hooks.
So far I haven't really hit on the right solution. Charlie Brewer sells the panfish hook in 1/32, although with shipping the cost climbs pretty fast. Nearly a dollar per hook - WOW!
LOL...I have never tried slider jigs, but i'd say they work well.....I have one jig on here I tied on a shad dart head, with black and sparkle, something link a shiner or threadfin imitation.
Makes perfect sense. Ive been puttering with my own ideas for something like the old Slider jigs. You have me thinking now.....
True, I have never seen it, but I thought hey why not, you see jigs in every other style.
I like that you made this one from a tube jig head. Thats not something you see too much.
Thanks Tony!!
I'll say it again. I wish I possessed the talent and the imagination required to create my own lures. Very nice!
Normally I use two spikes when it is cold, and a waxworm in warm weather, but the Berkley gulp maggots work really well. In really cold weather I think the tipper helps due to using a slower retrieve, but as the water warms up I don't think a tipper is as important, since you can jig more aggresively...you should check out my facebook page, i'm selling these jigs, and I have a ton of photos you can find me at dhtackle@gmail.com or just DH Tackle, there is a pic of a smallmouth jig...
