Maybe the sows will get impatient and start pushing in a little despite water temperatures jumping back and forth right now.....I will continue to lean on the Crappie bite as I wait out the gills...

Thanks guys....they are wanting to push shallow for spawning Leo but old man winter is holding on......everyone that knows me Tooty knows that the dreaded Bluegill fever could set in at any time......no known cure to date other than feeding the obsession!

Beautiful fish Jeffrey and that is some truly prized table fare to be sure !!!!!!! You are really close to the magic time now I imagine and is it affecting your sleeping habits now?  HA HA  YA KNOW RESTLESS nights thinking about gills etc. Can't concentrate at work, checking and rechecking everything in the Red Chariot , and all those related symptoms of GILL FEVER !!!!!!!!!!!

Oh wow! Those are dark coloration! Are they in spawning mode?

The Crappie bite has been very rewarding over the last several weeks but I'm personally ready for the "Running of the Bulls"......We are leaning towards having overlap in my region with both spawning Crappie and early arrival Gills inhabiting the same shallow water in the weeks ahead....should be very fun fishing.....

Today's fish were caught on the Strike King 2" Joker in Chartreuse/White Modified, Pink Curly Tailed Jig, Pink Mo-Glo Baby Shad and a Popsicle Colored Triple Ripple.......All tipped with live shiners....fish were shallow in this river earlier this week but multiple cold nights and chilly days pushed the water temperatures down to 47 and the fish pulled back to four to six feet scattered......
