Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

We have had a good year on quality largemouths this year with lots of 3 to 5 pound class fish. This one took a live bluegill below a bobber, a tactic that often outshines all others during late summer in our region.

Nice bass, that's always been a go too method for me, especially if nothing else seems to work.

Nice fish and cool that you have them numbered.

Tony...my largest bass thru the ice this past winter came on a 1/16th oz spoon tipped with maggots. When I switched to bigger spoons...no dice. In Fisherman editors reported the same pattern in their ice/bass efforts...little scores big!

I don't normally fish for bass, but I can say that of my top three biggest largemouths caught to date, two of them were taken on smaller bluegills.

On the other hand, number three took a size 14 ice jig this past winter.....go figure!

Nice Jim... I always wanted to try bluegill bait. While fishing the other day one gill floated up and flopped on the surface and occasionally twitched every few seconds as it again caught my attention a large shadow moved slowly up and sucked it in. It was a very large bass.
