Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Here is one of two HBG we caught on Fathers Day. Can anyone tell if it is a Male or Female?

My fish were stocked in 2009 so I wonder if this could be a spawn from them. I do have some that are more pan shaped but since there is not as much management on this small pond as I would like, it may be that they are over crowded and can not get to the size potential they could. My LMB have since spawned as I am finally catching small ones so I think the smaller GSF, HBG, BG will be getting hammered this year and going forward leaving me with the lucky ones to grow larger. I will just have to decide when to start removing the LMB to avoid a DO crash and loosing all fish.

I have a large population of CC that need to come out as well and try to take as many as I can each time I am able to hit this pond. We pulled out 3 nice ones this same day but that was far short from what I wanted to take out, but since it was a day with my 8 year old daughter se was taking care of the fish so made it hard for me to concentrate on getting them out. Hope to make it back soon and get some more.

We will be eating those CC either tonight or tomorrow for dinner.

Female. Beautiful looking. Catch quite a bit of these at Jenks Lake.

Yep, looks pretty green sunfish-y to me, too.
