Do you love big bluegill?
Look how chunky this spawning female Flier is...She was only an ounce from matching the record....1 ounce!

Make sure it's on Mustad hooks!
Appreciate that David....rest assured the news will break here first.....I have to believe a record fish is in the areas I'm catching Fliers...we'll make a hard run at him next month while I'm on vacation....Who knows, my dad or my nephew might get that hit......That's fine by me!
You were robbed with that one, Jeff. But you know, my money is on you, this year. I think the old record may fall to you....
Both are numerous in the Low Country Ronnie.......As you may have seen from my pictures...I personally will always be where I can fish Coppernose in the wild.....a great species that grows very fast to pole bending sizes....You just can't beat the fight ounce for ounce from a Big Coppernose....These big Fliers fought pretty good but nothing like there Bluegill cousins.
Jeffrey, they look as they would put up a great battle. I pulled up some info about them the other night and I don't think we have any of them in the piedmont of SC. Between the Fliers and Copper I seem to be missing out on some great fishing. Enjoy seeing your pics!
Thanks Ronnie, I'm fortunate to have Fliers in the rivers I fish most often.......
That is a nice looking Flier and congrats on your catch.
I appreciate the confidence Jacob.....I'm going to control what I can.....that means fish hard using the techniques I have mastered and with a little fishing luck......you'll never know what will be in my next post......
I gotta believe you'll get it at this point!
Being so close to the record in recent years Jacob.....I find myself casting a few more times when I catch one or pass an area where I have caught several.....Although I may never catch it, I feel the waters I fish hold a record......With a little luck...who knows!
