Yep! Lots of good "ice" fishing gets done with the long rods....at least it does in southern Indiana......

HEY MUSKY, MIGHTY NICE CATCH , and congrats !

.....exactly!,,,,,,so many anglers put it all away, and wait for the hard water.....screw that!.....simply make the vertical adjustment now, and reap the  heavy rewards!

A good mixed bag of chilly water fish. Did you tip your ice jigs? Congrats on your catch!

Surface temp was 40 deg, and fish were no longer responding to horizontal presentations.....mid day action was like the dead sea, fish came on fire 2-4pm....released dozens of slab Crappies, and Bass

....yes Jim, we were near the weed edge (with wind). I used a tall pencil style float, and pulled the float 2-3 ft, then violently wagged the float....pause for 5 sec, and repeat....hits were aggressive. Had to release most of the crappies to save room in my basket for the gills :)

Wow...that's something different...spoons under floats...and not in the abyss. Were there weeds in the 6 ft zone? I plan on doing some crappie fishing soon near some dead and dying weeds at a local lake. Might have to spoon it to see what happens.
