Do you love big bluegill?

Like Jim said, I'm at 1 1/2 lbs with a 10.5" length, a full 2" shorter than your dad's fish! As we know HBG growth slows dramatically with age, AND you've got an eye for estimating weight Bruce, however, all that being said....
I'll bet that fish was an honest 2 lbs, if not a tad over. Running the numbers using a chart designed for a BG gives us a Wr of only 95%, and from what I can see that fish's body condition looks pretty darn good.
I feel like it went 2.
The girth of that fish is tremendous, Bruce. My biggest RM gill was at 12.5 and 2-4. This hyb looks to be every bit as big as that! Just a monsterous BG x GSF hybrid! Tony's growin' em up to 1-8, and his are much shorter.
Tony...do you think it looks like a 2 lber?
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat one Bruce and do you use bass gear to get em in?LOL . I can only dream of em that big!!!!!
What a hog, looks like a two pounder to me.
We're estimating the weight for a quick release. But we did get an accurate length. Ya think it might have been bigger?
"Standard" weight of a Bluegill, (non hybrid), that is 12.5" comes in at 29.6 ozs. I suspect that had Bruce more time with this fish when it was younger, we would see a much higher weight ;) I don't recall ever seeing a HBG over 2 lbs, but a "plump" weight on a BG of that size would be over 2.25 lbs..........
I still can't believe that fish is 'just' a 1-12!
Mr. Condello is speaking my language....... totally awesome fish!
congrads on the chunk gill
WOW! WHAT A HOG & BEAUTIFUL TOO! FROM ANOTHER FRANK! STILL WORKING ON OLD-TIMER TO SHOW ME SOME MICHIGAN HOTSPOTS.
