KEEPING SIZE HERE JOHN;; AND A NICE ONE AT THAT !  YEP;; SQUIRREL TAILS;; ARE VERY DEFINITLY A PLUS FOR JIGS !

NO float   but that may change as Cold water period arrives. I either swim it slowly up in the column with the rod tip up or I lower the rod tip and keep the jig close to bottom usually moving slowly .Sometimes the hit comes on the fall and i see the line move off .Another good thing about the squirrel tail jig is often the fish holds on to it .I swear it must feel natural and alive in their mouths . They don't spit it out like some other lures .

...tipping seems to have a negative impact for me on my jigs... i lose the action i impart to the jigs on retrieve yet many anglers swear by the tipping of jigs for productivity... are you also employing floats with this method?
