Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

Warm weather, rain and today a passing front to cold.
But I was able to rouse a few small gill to a surface popper.
Plus I managed to land my flies and not hang them
In the shrubs. I've gotten to the "4ft Zone" - I can land a fly within four feet if my target.... At least some of the time.

Yes Don!
That's what I'm talking about!

Four feet isn't bad......but we can do better. Next time we lawn cast, we will put a Dixie cup at 60 feet and take turns dropping a fly in the cup............Don

The floating air chairs will come in due time.... Still a bit cold.
I dont have waders yet, or fins, or etc.

This was from the pond by the house. I'm blessed to have access to it, so I go there when I just want a little casting practice.

I'll take your dink any day. Looks like you're having fun on the water..where's the air-chair pontoon? Use it!

Way to go "scruff".......Any gills you can coax out of the cold water we have now says a lot about your fishing skills. It still puzzles me that flies fished at or near the top are the ones producing. Normally, most of the fish catching this time of year is sub-surface. But lately that hasn't been the case. My "go-to" wet flies have gone totally ignored the last two times out.............Go figure. Oh-Well......just hang in there, the good times....they-are-a-coming. late April through October will bring some good fishing...........Don

I'm actually pleased with my casting more than anything. Just a few rod hangups... That's a serious advancement for me.
Thanks Don Schmotzer!

I agree with Dick....there's satisfaction in simply getting out and catching a bluegill......they don't all have to be giants.
