 Okay I'll toss a twist in for ya, this fish was caught in a north Florida stream.

It would seem, depending on which reference you use, that Shadow bass are an offshoot of Rockbass... now generally given their own classification, although apparently Alabama still considers them a southern Rockbass. I think that ShadowBass are more heavily marked (darker), and I think I see more coloration in their dorsal fins than I do on a Rockbass.

Very interesting comparison...reminds me of the various hybridizations of Lepomis species, and the difficulties than can arise in identifying them.

rock bass,since the goby invasion lake michigan is full of rock bass.big ones ,they tear those goby's up.the whole shoreline from indiana thru illinois is rock and concrete except the beaches and if you fish down in the rocks you can catch hundreds.always thought they were a river fish until we started catching them in the lake in the 90s.they are great little fighters.could never get em to take a fly tho.

 7 minutes..really Tony? And then Leo kills me with " I concur ".... LOL, okay I'm gonna have to catch something more Challenging for yall!

 Anyway I've heard them called Rock Bass, Redeyes, Goggle eyes, Ghost bass what else have you heard them called?

I concur! Look at the bloodshot eyes, which is a dead give away. Striation on the small body also a dead give away.
