Good Lord, are you sure it's safe to go in the water?

That smile says it all. What a Hybrid!!!!

I'm not surprise if this thing grown to be a small tank.  Good grief. The massive body still baffles me. I wouldn't be surprise if someone get dragged into the pond.

I think this is the first BBG photo to reach 5,000 views.

Been two years since Bruce posted this photo.... wonder how big that fish is now.......

My new favorite quote: "My HBG have gotten so large, I no longer weigh or measure them. From here on out, I'm going to be figuring displacement"...........

..and of course the fact that I'm slightly cross-eyed. :-)

This is an outstanding specimen but, It's the Condello smile that makes this picture.....absolutely genuine!

I agree, Troy. The hybrid pond I fish has distinct 'male' and 'female' of the hybrid, with most currently being those that strongly exhibit female traits. The fish in the pond are from a series of stockings over about 8 years and vary in size structure. One of the coolest of the sunfish, even if they are 'lab-produced'

I love looking at this picture... It epitomizes all the defining traits of a  big male HBG.

Larger mouth, dark orange breast area, sheer "tallness" factor, and that huge chest... We often hear of BG developing a "hump" on their heads.... But HBG seem to get more of a hump on their chest. My own HBG exhibit these same characteristics.

Beautiful fish!

A Jeckel/Hyde fish if ever I saw one!
