thanks guys, he was pretty big 11" but very heavy
Looks like a big RES to me. Outstanding!
Jim,You might be right I looked at pictures of other fish that I caught today and it looks like a redear I'll post pictures of 2 more fish from the same lake I know one of them is a gill cracker and the other a bluegill
I think you've got an honest to goodness redear sunfish!

Awesome Federico. good to hear that you preserve the big fish, but don't be afraid to keep some smaller ones
AWESOME FISH. AWESOME CATCH & RELEASE. GREAT ADVICE, BUT REMEMBER SIZES ARE RELATIVE. IF 7" TO 8" FISH ARE THE BIGGEST IN THE LAKE, THROW SOME OF THOSE BACK & KEEP SOME SMALLER ONES. A FRIEND FISHES IN CANADA AT RICE LAKE & HAS NEVER THROWN BACK A BIG BLUEGILL. GUESS HOW MANY 10" BLUEGILLS HE HAS CAUGHT. ZERO. I BELIEVE HE CAN BRING BACK 300 GILLS PER TRIP PER PERSON. HE HAS FISHED THERE SEVERAL YEARS & HAS PROBABLY HARVESTED 50,000 BLUEGILLS.
Thanks guys, James I'm an all catch and release fisherman so as far as me the fish don't have to worry
Great Fish Federico......
Man those are nice fish. you should cherish a spot like that if it is loaded, butremember it can be unloaded very easy. all 10 " gills and crackers should be released. keep the ones 8" and under. i have seen it many times. everyone keeps these large fish and it wipes the lake out completely. good fishin federico
