Zig, Whether or not it is a RB, HRB, or what ever it is it is a BEAUTIFUL FISH, nice sized and is deserving of a hot oil bath, and a side of fried taters. Then you have the thrill of the catch and a great meal. Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!
Listed below are other fish taken from the same flow, of various sizes (age classes), that I had been tagging as female, RBS.
Have they been incorrectly ID'd?
Below are a couple of known RBS purebreds. Look at how striking the eartab morphology is. Granted, I think these are males, but even the RBS females seem to have a more elongated eartab than the original picture. Also the checkerboard makings are a general indicator of hybridization.
I'm learning here, so please bear with my questions.
Where are you picking up BG cues Bruce? Is it in the coloration?
If so, how do I distinquish between a RBSxBG and a female RBS?
