Bluegill - Big Bluegill

Do you love big bluegill?

This is a thick 9 1/2 in. male that took a Renowsky Sonic Minnow spinner. Caught 4 in four casts before the lightning got too close.

that's what i need ... 20 acres with a 10 acre pond to throw all my 8" plus fish... and feed the heck out of them.

Feeding is always a great benefit and a good food a +.

This one came out of a small private pond that has recently been restocked with catfish. The owner added a automatic feeder and I hope that will push these fish to the next level.

That’s where I’m at Keith... avg bluegill lives up to eight years old... around my neck of the woods that s an eight to nine inch fish by Michigan avg growth rates. To tag the fish over the ten inch mark would be would be a fish over the 10 -11 year old range that’s tough to do. Its finding the fish that beat those astronomical odds. Add increasing human predation year to year to the mix makes it even tougher.

that is a really nice fish!

Thanks guys, this is about the top of the spectrum for bluegill around here but I know there has to be one out there just a 1/2 an inch longer. I guess thats what keeps us fishing.
