Do you love big bluegill?

"Bass Bug" complete

Made from a standard bottle cork, I followed suggestions from Tom Keith. These were in an old Bass Masters compilation, "The Best of BassMasters, 1968-1980."

This bug was done in the old "Coachdog" motif, one of my best catching patterns on Jitterbugs. I used a combination of nail polish and enamels for the finish.
The camera does a poor job of showing the "hot pink" face.

I had to retrofit the bug with an .022 mono weed guard, because I had forgotten to build it in at the outset.

I may never be able to cast thia bug with the rods I have, though. They are a bit light.
I may need to buy something new, just for the task... :-)

Comment by David, aka, "McScruff" on February 14, 2014 at 9:15am: Interesting breed, the Dalmation. We think of them with fire trucks, but they were much more. As you say, the fish know none of that. People have used bare corks adorned with feathers for a century and a half to catch bass, that I know of. There is little practical reason to decorate them as elaborately as we do, except we like it. It's creative, it's Art... And that's a good reason.

I'm not really a bass guy, but these large poppers offer a bit more artistic leverage. I could get to liking them.
